Update Permissions for Staff in the EHR

Created by Lynn Shoop, Modified on Tue, Apr 28 at 9:55 AM by Lynn Shoop

Log into the EHR for the practice

From the top menu, choose:

  • tools
  • user administration

Find the staff member and open their account (double-click on their name)

  • Select 'role assignment' from the top tab menu
  • Click the dropdown and find the role that has the permission that you need
  • Click 'save'
  • Close out of the User Administration dialog box.

NOTE: only one person can use the User Administration module at once. If you don't close out, the next user cannot access.

Once you have found the report, you can add it to the specific role that staff member uses.

The goal here is to follow the 'principle of least privelege' model, giving the staff member the minimum access necessary to complete their work. You never want to assign the 'Admin' role to someone other than an Account Manager or more senior level roles.

If the report that you are looking for still isn't found, in the main screen:

  • Select 'reports' from the top menu
  • Select 'report library'

Here, you can see a list of roles. When you click the role, it opens up the list of reports that role has access to. You can also choose 'all reports' from the top of the list to view all available reports (in alphabetical order).

Click the role to open up the settings for that report.

Click 'edit categories' This brings up a list of every category available. The greyed out itmes are either already selected, or not editable.

Typically we want to choose the category(ies) that PedsOne uses most. Once you check the box for that category, the report you are currently working with will be added to that role.
